Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) announced a $3 million gift to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) to establish the Kohl’s Department Stores Centre for Retailing Excellence.

Companies are increasingly creating their own degree-granting programmes with the purpose of delivering specific company training to their managerial staff and providing hands-on and directly applicable learning. These learning projects contribute to reinforcing the staff’s sense of belonging to their company, help staff to keep up with changing business needs, and start and support strategic change in order to stay competitive in the global marketplace.

A corporate university-style initiative between Manchester Business School and construction firm Styles and Wood provides management and business skills training for construction professionals and includes modules that emphasise interdisciplinary teamwork, goal setting and management in a customer-oriented service-led culture.

Trump University's Ivy League entrepreneurship courses have become part of Virginia Western Community College's Workforce Development Services "Learn Connect" training. The addition is in response to Virginia's local economic development programs focused on the growth of new businesses.
